Last semester i had to write an articles about caffeine. After reading some journal, i realize that caffeine has so many adverse effect to human body. So let see how bad caffeine to our body.

Caffeine
The scientific name for caffeine is
1,3,7-trimethylxanthine. Caffeine is considered to be the most commonly used
psychoactive drug in the world. Coffee, soda, and tea are the most common
sources of caffeine. There is no requirement of caffeine in human diet for the
body to function properly but people still like to consume caffeine without
knowing that caffeine has many effects on their body.
Firstly, caffeine is a stimulant of central nervous
system. When the consume caffeine, it will be absorb to the blood stream and
also will enter the central nervous system. Caffeine induce adrenal to produce
more adrenaline and the adrenaline will release into the blood circulation in
the body. It will result in elevated mood and decreased fatigue. So the person
who consumes caffeine will become fresh and energetic. Caffeine also has an
ability to manipulate dopamine production. The Dopamine is neurotransmitters
that activate the “pleasure centres” in certain part of the brain and can
simply make people feel good. But in a real time, actually the person is
already tired. The caffeine effect is depending on several factors such as
gender and age. For young people, they have high metabolism than older people.
So young people will metabolize caffeine rapidly. It is also the same for men.
They have higher metabolism rate compare to women. So man will metabolize
caffeine more than women.
Secondly, caffeine can cause osteoporosis. Actually it is
a long term effect. Calcium is a mineral need for healthy bones, but caffeine
can increase the excretion of calcium. Caffeine will inhibit the bone from
absorbing calcium while calcium is needed. When calcium is not absorbed by the
bone, it will be process and excrete through urine and feces. For the bone, it
will become week and fragile due to the loss of bone density. Bone density is
depending in calcium absorption, so low absorption of calcium will cause low
density of bone. To reduce this problem, people should minimize the intake of
caffeine. Do not consume calcium with caffeine and take maximum amount of
calcium if you consuming a lot of caffeine.
Finally, caffeine is not good for women health. Some
study show caffeine can reduce the chances for women to get pregnant. It
because caffeine will interrupt a production of hormone in women body. So women
who consume caffeine will face hormonal imbalance problem. Due to that,
caffeine may delay conception because to get pregnant, women must have a
balance hormone in their body. Then for pregnant women caffeine will restrict
the growth of foetus. It can cause pre-mature born and low birth weight baby.
Excessive intake of caffeine also can cause miscarriage or stillbirth. Women
also will experience post menstrual syndrome when they consume caffeine in the
time they will have their menstrual. In this case, caffeine consumption is
linked to elevate of estrogen level. Higher estrogen levels while having
menstrual is not good. For example, they will get a breast pain and also lower
abdominal cramp. Caffeine also restricts blood vessels and increases tension
and anxiety. It will increase a production of stress hormone that will cause
high blood pressure and heart rate. So they will have a swing mood during
menstrual time.
In conclusion, there are good and bad effects of
consuming caffeine to human body. So the intake of caffeine must be monitor. Do
not consume a lot of caffeine in one time and make sure drink a lot of plain
water so that the caffeine will be flush out from the body. Then we will have a
healthy body even though we consume caffeine.
